I can’t understand why international markets already have the NP300 and the US is still stuck with the aging Frontier. It has coil-sprung rears so it is halfway between the new Ridgeline and the other pickups (Taco, Colorado...)

the horrible outdated “chicken tax” still in effect ?

But how hard can it be to have it built in the States?

It has coil-sprung rears
Over here in the Far East it’s sold with the typical solid axle leaf spring configuration. Starts at US$21000 for a turbo diesel 4 potter, stick shift, RWD and not much more.

Where in the Far East? Well, I think you can choose between leaf-sprung and coil-sprung variants

Thailand. I’m certain there is no option for coil spring rears.
For the majority of the markets it’d be leaf springs rear, simply for load carrying as intended. This class of light trucks are literally the blue collar equivalent of the American superlative alternatives.

We get them in Mexico, it’s a good basic truck but would rather an Amarok.

I like the Ridgeline, I love the Colorado, I freak out at the site of a new Taco. But this is not nice. That front end is so upright for such a small grill surrounded with huge headlights. Also, the Frontier Pro 4X still looks like a great truck!

I don’t work in manufacturing,
but since the truck was already in production in other part of the world, they will have to make a duplicate set of molds here? or transfer everything here to build the truck here, then export it back to Thailand or whereever else, there’s significant cost involved.
the chicken tax is on its way out, the manufacturers are just waiting it out

Got to agree with you with the small grille but it looks proud and mad! Well both versions look well for me, though

Amazingly, it’s also cheaper, starting at a mere US$13600!
Again, Thailand’s automotive industries are screwing with its domestic consumers. These are times when big business Thailand decides its consumers are daft and bleed them for all its worth. ¯\_()_/¯
